How to Maintain Your Vehicle’s Leather Interior

How to Maintain Your Vehicle’s Leather Interior

Many people don’t realize that you need to take good care of your vehicle’s leather interior to make sure it does not harden or even crack over time.  Here are some pointers on caring for your leather interior!

How to Clean Your Leather Interior

Leather is a resilient material but should still be cleaned about 4 times per year.  Start by vacuuming all leather surfaces to pick up any debris in the stitches or contours.  Then use a slightly damp microfiber towel to wipe off any noticeable residue before moving to the next step.

Next you will need a brush and leather cleaner.  Spray the cleaner on the brush to avoid liquid leaking into your seats through perforations or stitches.  Find a small, inconspicuous place to test the cleaner before applying to the major surfaces.  Make sure the cleaner you have selected is safe before proceeding with larger areas.  Once the cleaning product is verified as safe, gently scrub the major surfaces until everything looks clean.  Wipe dry with a clean microfiber cloth.

You should also condition your leather once a year, due to the Texas heat.  Its best to do this right after cleaning has finished drying.  There are many leather conditioners on the market so look for one that is water based and pH neutral.  Apply to a small test area like with the cleaner.  If it doesn’t discolor or stain, you can continue with the rest of the material.  Rub the conditioner in with a soft brush or microfiber cloth.  Massage the product into the leather and wipe any excess away.

Lastly allow the conditioner time to sit and soak into the leather.  Its best to allow this to happen overnight, but a few hours will do as well, just be sure to keep the vehicle out of direct sunlight during this time.  Once set, buff with a clean microfiber cloth and enjoy!

3 Reasons Why You Should Never Purchase a New Vehicle

3 Reasons Why You Should Never Purchase a New Vehicle

While there are benefits to buying a brand new car, it might not be the smartest financial choice. Before you think a car with only 10 miles is the better deal, here are three arguments why you should never buy new!

You’ll Pay More

Buying a great car does not have to complicate your financial life! If you have good credit and you’re able to qualify for a new car loan with no hassles, banks may compete for your business and offer the best rate possible.

But even with low-rate auto financing on a new purchase, a new car will be more expensive than an older version of the same car. Not only because of the higher sale price, but you’ll also pay more in other areas. Brand new cars can have higher insurance premiums than used cars as well.

Faster Depreciation and Negative Equity

It’s kind of a trap, but new cars depreciate faster than used vehicles. The sad reality is that the average new car can depreciate as much as 19% in its first year! What does this mean for you? To put it simply, if you buy a brand new car without a down payment, or if your monthly loan payment isn’t high enough to compensate for depreciation, you could end up owing more than the vehicle is worth.

Negative equity isn’t the worst thing to happen if you plan on keeping the car until it’s paid off. But if you’re the type of person who trades in vehicles every two or three years, negative equity can increase the cost of your next vehicle. Say a dealership gives you $19,000 for your trade-in, yet you owe $22,000, the $3,000 difference doesn’t just go away.  You have to pay it when the dealer tacks the negative equity onto your next car loan. So instead of a sale price of $27,000 for your next vehicle, you end up financing $30,000.

On the other hand, if you skip the brand new car and buy a vehicle that’s one or two years old, you’ll be able to get the car at a price that’s more comparable to its actual value, and possibly avoid an upside-down loan.

You Get More for Your Money

Since cars depreciate rapidly within the first year, buying used is an opportunity to get more for less!

For example, you can buy used cars that are less than a year old and save thousands of dollars! Here at Dallas Lease Returns we have great quality, used vehicles that are in perfect condition! Most are just a couple years old and we even offer used luxury brands! It’s like buying a brand new car, without the brand new price tag.

In summary, buying used is the way to go! It saves you money in the present and future, and is also the most practical method. To browse our inventory, visit our website!

How to Create the Perfect Tailgate

How to Create the Perfect Tailgate

You may think hosting an epic tailgate is as simple as showing up with a grill and some snacks, but here at Dallas Lease Returns, we know that is not the case! Creating a fun and memorable tailgate is ALL about the prep! With a few tips, tricks, and some smart space-saving gear, you’ll be well on your way to game day success—no matter who wins on the field.

Create a Fun Atmosphere

Tailgating is all about carving out your own small patch of pre-game party perfection. And that means you’ve got to set the mood!

For starters, it’s never a bad idea to show a bit of team spirit while staking out your space. File this under killing-two-birds-with-one-stone, because not only does this portable and affordable canopy pop out instantly to provide shade and shelter, it also comes in over 20 colors so that you’re sure to rep your team right. Plus, it folds into a carry-bag, giving you trunk space to spare.

Also, music is a MUST!  A Bluetooth speaker that’s small enough to slip into your pocket (but loud enough to drown out any opposing fans) is perfect to set the mood! The UE Roll 2 may look petite, but this thing packs nine hours of battery life, killer sound, and a waterproof design—just in case someone knocks it into the cooler.

Food & Drinks

For starters, plan on doing as much prep-work as possible. Our advice? We like to choose one meal to prepare on site, and pack along a number of prepared sides for all-day munching. Whether you’re into bread bowls or fruit salads, bruschetta or hummus—the more you can organize in advance, the better.

Comfy Cozy

Tailgating is all about endurance, and that’s why you should NEVER skimp on comfort!

Besides, wouldn’t you rather sit down at a table tto enjoy snacks than stand?  That’s where the folding picnic table comes in. This portable diner’s companion expands from a travel-friendly (and sweet looking) carrying case into a four-seater table. If you like your seating with a bit more padding, there’s also this incredible portable couch, which is briefcase-sized in transport before folding out into a snug loveseat.

As the season goes on, you’ll definitely need some warm gear to ward off the Fall chill! You can’t go wrong with throwing a few waterproof wool blankets in your car, but if you’re more of a modern traveler, splurge on these Bluetooth heated insoles.

Water Adventures

It’s no secret that Texas summers are hot and Dallas is no exception. Some of the best summer activities in Dallas deal with water: sliding down thrilling water slides, floating with the kids on lazy rivers or hitting the wave pool at the city’s best water park, Hurricane Harbor. Avoid the tourist crowds (and expensive entrance fees) by hitting up the large public pool operated by the Fraternal Order of Eagles, complete with a playground, sand volleyball, a restaurant and not one, but two bars.

For a more nature-themed water experience, hit up one of the Metroplex’s many lakes or rivers. Kayaking on the Trinity River or White Rock Lake is the perfect way to beat the sun. Or for a more traditional lake experience, spend a day fishing, laying out on the beach or camping at Lake Lewisville, between the suburbs of Frisco and Denton. Even better, take a boat out on the water to tube or water ski.

 Sit Back & Relax

Forget “Netflix and chill” during Dallas summers – just catch a free outdoor movie. The Granada Theater hosts free movie nights every Wednesday on their rooftop.

Films for 2018 include: Wonder WomanThe Big LebowskiClueless and Pulp Fiction.

They also offer a special rooftop food-and-drink menu to enjoy while you watch a classic film.

Other Adventures

Summer in Dallas is the perfect time to visit the city’s most engaging adventure parks and attractions. There’s Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington, filled with thrilling roller coasters and rides for visitors of all ages. Plus, it’s the original Six Flags amusement park, making it a must-visit for any theme park fan.

The Dallas World Aquarium, in downtown’s West End, features a diverse set of exhibits and talks, though the highlight is ogling over otters, crocodiles, sharks and penguins.

In south Dallas, visitors can discover the largest and oldest zoo in Texas, complete with gorillas, cheetahs and a wide array of other exhibits. Be sure to check out their summer concert series, Safari Nights, for live music, drinks, food trucks and special animal programs.

Whatever you decide, just have a great time with your family! Enjoy the rest of the Summer, everyone!

Chevy vs Ford

What is the Difference Between Chevy Trucks and Ford Trucks?

Thursday, May 31st, 2018
Are you in the market for a truck but are not sure whether to purchase a Ford or a Chevy? No problem, we can help! At Dallas Lease Returns we have both Chevorlet and Ford trucks in our inventory, and believe that they are both great truck companies. However, there are still some differences between the two. Continue reading to find out what they are!

Chevrolet Trucks

Chevy is known for their amazing pickup trucks, but what sets them apart from other companies?

Easy, it’s their history!

Chevy has been around for 1o0 years! The company first started out building Supply Chain and Farming trucks for different companies. Eventually, they made the Light Delivery Chassis, a truck-like-vehicle that made it much easier for people to transport items without a horse or a buggy.

Chevy made history with this design and it helped society progress immensely. Today, Chevy specializes in making vehicles that are lighter and smaller. As we all know, gas prices have gone up overtime and Chevy tries to make their trucks cost efficient while still being reliable.

Ford Trucks

Ford is also a company that has been around for quite awhile. They are known for being the vehicle choice for the working man or women. This company specializes in making trucks that are both aesthetically pleasing, while also still being tough and durable. Around most of America, Ford trucks are known for their outstanding performance and value.

In fact, in 2009 the Ford F-150 won the prestigious Motor Trend Truck of the year award. In 2017, the Ford Super Duty won the Motor Trend Truck of the Year. Ford is known for being a tough car and it shows through their awards and outstanding achievements.

As you can see, both of these companies are amazing in different ways. For more information, please visit our website or call (214) 960-1388!

Spring Cleaning Just Ahead

Don’t Forget About Your Vehicle This Spring Cleaning Season

Friday, March 30th, 2018
Guess what time it is? Spring Cleaning Season! Here at Dallas Lease Returns, we know that you may have multiple projects going on, so we’re here to remind you about your car or truck! To ensure your vehicle is in tip-top shape, we ask that you take a few moments each week to perform the following checks!

Trust us, this can save you from costly vehicle repairs and may also save your life.

Watch Out for Your Engine

Overheating, especially in hot weather, is the leading cause of preventable breakdowns and one of the main areas where prevention is much cheaper than the cure.

Trust us, your wallet does not want to replace a fried engine. If your antifreeze is more than a couple of years old, play it safe and replace it. Adding a coolant to your radiator also may reduce engine temperature by as much as 30 degrees and help condition seals to prevent leaks.

Maintain Your Fluids

Fluid levels are key! Check and top off all fluid levels, including engine oil, transmission, cooling system, power steering, brake fluid and washer fluid. These are what keep your car running, they are are the lifeblood of it! Purchasing high-quality fluids and regularly changing old fluids will improve your car’s performance and reliability.

Look at Your Tires

All tires should be properly inflated, including the spare tire. The sidewall of your tire will list its proper pressure level. Correctly inflated tires increase gas mileage, lengthen tire life and are much less susceptible to blow-outs.

Upgrade Your Oil

Another way to reduce engine heat is to upgrade to high-performance, synthetic motor oil. Synthetic motor oils reduce engine heat by dispersing the heat faster and having a lower coefficient of friction than mineral-based motor oils.

Check Your Belts

A worn or loose belt can cause the engine to overheat. A cracked belt or a hose that is unusually soft or hard needs replacement. Make sure hose clamps are tight and check the ends for cracks or corrosion. Extreme heat can often cause leaks and other damage, so keep an eye out for hard, blistered or spongy hoses. If any of these warning signs are present, replace the hoses immediately. It is also a good idea to keep spare belts in your trunk.

These spring cleaning tips will not only get your ready for the Texas summer, but they will also increase the life of your vehicle! If you’re tired of the car you do have, come trade it in! We have an awesome inventory full of great quality used cars! For more information, visit our website or call 214-960-1388 today!
