How to Maintain Your Vehicle’s Leather Interior

How to Maintain Your Vehicle’s Leather Interior

Many people don’t realize that you need to take good care of your vehicle’s leather interior to make sure it does not harden or even crack over time.  Here are some pointers on caring for your leather interior!

How to Clean Your Leather Interior

Leather is a resilient material but should still be cleaned about 4 times per year.  Start by vacuuming all leather surfaces to pick up any debris in the stitches or contours.  Then use a slightly damp microfiber towel to wipe off any noticeable residue before moving to the next step.

Next you will need a brush and leather cleaner.  Spray the cleaner on the brush to avoid liquid leaking into your seats through perforations or stitches.  Find a small, inconspicuous place to test the cleaner before applying to the major surfaces.  Make sure the cleaner you have selected is safe before proceeding with larger areas.  Once the cleaning product is verified as safe, gently scrub the major surfaces until everything looks clean.  Wipe dry with a clean microfiber cloth.

You should also condition your leather once a year, due to the Texas heat.  Its best to do this right after cleaning has finished drying.  There are many leather conditioners on the market so look for one that is water based and pH neutral.  Apply to a small test area like with the cleaner.  If it doesn’t discolor or stain, you can continue with the rest of the material.  Rub the conditioner in with a soft brush or microfiber cloth.  Massage the product into the leather and wipe any excess away.

Lastly allow the conditioner time to sit and soak into the leather.  Its best to allow this to happen overnight, but a few hours will do as well, just be sure to keep the vehicle out of direct sunlight during this time.  Once set, buff with a clean microfiber cloth and enjoy!

How to Get Your Vehicle Ready for Spring

How to Get Your Vehicle Ready for Spring

Winter can do a number on your car. Slush, salt and cold temperatures take a toll on everything from the tires to the wiper blades. So, as spring approaches, it’s a good idea to give your car a thorough once-over to undo winter’s damage. Continue reading to learn how you can get your car in shape for spring!

Wash Underneath

Wintertime driving will coat the bottom of your car with salt, sand and other grime that can cause corrosion. Corrosion can lead to rust problems, which can make your car much harder to resell or even dangerous to drive.

Spend a few extra dollars for the undercarriage power wash at the local car wash or spray the car’s bottom with your own hose.

Detail

Salt and sand can damage the car’s paint. Give your car a thorough cleaning and wax it with a paste or liquid wax. Scrub the bottoms of doors, which can get coated with grime, and clean the window channels with a silicone spray. Use a steam cleaner or apply a rug-cleaning spray to remove all the salt from the car’s inside.

Replace Wipers

Wiper blades get a workout during the winter months. To get ready for the rainy months ahead, we advise you change them out every Spring and Fall!

Check Tire Pressure

Check your tire pressure. Cold weather can cause tires to be under inflated and the onset of warm weather can over inflate them. Also, visually inspect your tires to make sure they’re wearing evenly and have plenty of tread.

Top Off All Fluids

Winter weather can deplete some fluids, especially windshield wiper fluid, so top them off yourself if they’re too low. A service station will also do the job for $25 or so. You should change your oil, brake fluid and transmission fluid every 5,000 miles regardless of the season.

How to Find the Best Vehicle for Your Lifestyle

How to Find the Best Vehicle for Your Lifestyle

As a car shopper, you literally have hundreds of choices when it comes to picking a new ride. While there’s something for every buyer, finding that perfect match isn’t always easy.

Here at Dallas Lease Returns, we want to ensure you find the best vehicle for your lifestyle! To do so, we put together a list of three crucial questions you need to ask yourself before making the decision. Continue reading to learn what they are!

What Kind of Car Do You Want?

Cars tend to be extensions of our personalities, so you’ll probably gravitate toward cars that fit yours. Most car buyers know what they don’t like and what they do.

Is comfort and convenience more important to you than other factors? Do you have a preferred color you want for your car?  These are the things you need to ask yourself before making a decision.

What Kind of Car Do You Need?

Think about your lifestyle and how your car fits into it. If you have two kids and another on the way, you obviously will need something to transport everyone safely.

On the other hand, if you’re a business professional who has to drive clients around, you’ll probably need something a little more upscale.

This is why being honest with yourself and thinking ahead is the key to finding the perfect vehicle.

What Can You Afford?

This is a crucial question to ask yourself. Before making the decision to purchase a vehicle, you need to consider the total cost of the car, including the monthly payment, registration, insurance, fuel, and maintenance costs.

If you solely focus on the monthly payment of the vehicle, you could be convinced to stretch your payments out to buy more car. By doing so, you could pay thousands more in interest and put yourself at increased financial risk.

Go over you finances with a fine toothed comb and, once again, be honest about what you can afford and what you can’t. Going into a dealership with a set monthly budget in mind will make all the difference.

Once you answer all three questions, you will know what you want, what you need and what you can afford! To further ease your car search, browse our vast inventory online!

Best Ways to Use Your Tax Return

Best Ways to Use Your Tax Return

Right about now (or in the near future) you should be getting your tax return back! How will you spend it? Before blowing the money on something you may regret later, consider spending it on one of the following options that could be beneficial in the long run!

Pay Off Debt

If you have quite a bit of credit card debt, it may be a smart idea to pay off what you can with your tax return! If you have multiple cards, pay off the one with the highest interest rate first.

Build an Emergency Fund

Save some, or all, of your tax refund for a rainy day by tucking it into savings! Even a modest amount can help soften the blow of typical unexpected expenses.

Use it as a Down Payment on a Vehicle

If you’re in need of a new ride, it may be smart to use your tax refund as a down payment. This will ensure that you have a less expensive monthly payment, which will actually save you money in the long run!

If this idea appeals to you, check out our inventory today! We have many high quality, late model cars that are marked at an affordable price!

3 Reasons Why You Should Never Purchase a New Vehicle

3 Reasons Why You Should Never Purchase a New Vehicle

While there are benefits to buying a brand new car, it might not be the smartest financial choice. Before you think a car with only 10 miles is the better deal, here are three arguments why you should never buy new!

You’ll Pay More

Buying a great car does not have to complicate your financial life! If you have good credit and you’re able to qualify for a new car loan with no hassles, banks may compete for your business and offer the best rate possible.

But even with low-rate auto financing on a new purchase, a new car will be more expensive than an older version of the same car. Not only because of the higher sale price, but you’ll also pay more in other areas. Brand new cars can have higher insurance premiums than used cars as well.

Faster Depreciation and Negative Equity

It’s kind of a trap, but new cars depreciate faster than used vehicles. The sad reality is that the average new car can depreciate as much as 19% in its first year! What does this mean for you? To put it simply, if you buy a brand new car without a down payment, or if your monthly loan payment isn’t high enough to compensate for depreciation, you could end up owing more than the vehicle is worth.

Negative equity isn’t the worst thing to happen if you plan on keeping the car until it’s paid off. But if you’re the type of person who trades in vehicles every two or three years, negative equity can increase the cost of your next vehicle. Say a dealership gives you $19,000 for your trade-in, yet you owe $22,000, the $3,000 difference doesn’t just go away.  You have to pay it when the dealer tacks the negative equity onto your next car loan. So instead of a sale price of $27,000 for your next vehicle, you end up financing $30,000.

On the other hand, if you skip the brand new car and buy a vehicle that’s one or two years old, you’ll be able to get the car at a price that’s more comparable to its actual value, and possibly avoid an upside-down loan.

You Get More for Your Money

Since cars depreciate rapidly within the first year, buying used is an opportunity to get more for less!

For example, you can buy used cars that are less than a year old and save thousands of dollars! Here at Dallas Lease Returns we have great quality, used vehicles that are in perfect condition! Most are just a couple years old and we even offer used luxury brands! It’s like buying a brand new car, without the brand new price tag.

In summary, buying used is the way to go! It saves you money in the present and future, and is also the most practical method. To browse our inventory, visit our website!

How to Create the Perfect Tailgate

How to Create the Perfect Tailgate

You may think hosting an epic tailgate is as simple as showing up with a grill and some snacks, but here at Dallas Lease Returns, we know that is not the case! Creating a fun and memorable tailgate is ALL about the prep! With a few tips, tricks, and some smart space-saving gear, you’ll be well on your way to game day success—no matter who wins on the field.

Create a Fun Atmosphere

Tailgating is all about carving out your own small patch of pre-game party perfection. And that means you’ve got to set the mood!

For starters, it’s never a bad idea to show a bit of team spirit while staking out your space. File this under killing-two-birds-with-one-stone, because not only does this portable and affordable canopy pop out instantly to provide shade and shelter, it also comes in over 20 colors so that you’re sure to rep your team right. Plus, it folds into a carry-bag, giving you trunk space to spare.

Also, music is a MUST!  A Bluetooth speaker that’s small enough to slip into your pocket (but loud enough to drown out any opposing fans) is perfect to set the mood! The UE Roll 2 may look petite, but this thing packs nine hours of battery life, killer sound, and a waterproof design—just in case someone knocks it into the cooler.

Food & Drinks

For starters, plan on doing as much prep-work as possible. Our advice? We like to choose one meal to prepare on site, and pack along a number of prepared sides for all-day munching. Whether you’re into bread bowls or fruit salads, bruschetta or hummus—the more you can organize in advance, the better.

Comfy Cozy

Tailgating is all about endurance, and that’s why you should NEVER skimp on comfort!

Besides, wouldn’t you rather sit down at a table tto enjoy snacks than stand?  That’s where the folding picnic table comes in. This portable diner’s companion expands from a travel-friendly (and sweet looking) carrying case into a four-seater table. If you like your seating with a bit more padding, there’s also this incredible portable couch, which is briefcase-sized in transport before folding out into a snug loveseat.

As the season goes on, you’ll definitely need some warm gear to ward off the Fall chill! You can’t go wrong with throwing a few waterproof wool blankets in your car, but if you’re more of a modern traveler, splurge on these Bluetooth heated insoles.
